Thriftbag Thursday

 Sweater/Jumper: Thrifted
A cashmere jumper for $4?
Sure, don't mind if I do

Necklace: Forever 21
It's old, but not quite
old enough to be my granny's

Tights: Target
Thanks Santa/mom-in-law

Slippers: Marks and Spencers
Am I a spoiled expat if
my nan still sends me slippers
from Marks and Sparks for Christmas?

And as for the skirt, well that's for another Thriftbag Thursday I'm afraid…

I work weekends, and I sometimes forget that it's totally okay to take a midweek day or two just to lounge, read news and blogs and drink endless tea.

Photo Geekery:  These are all self-taken, sorry! I wanted to explore taking photos in front of a light source (window) which can be tricky. There's another light source (window) to the left of the photos too.I over-exposed the pictures and used spot metering. I think they turned out okay. Next time I'll play around with using flashes and/or bouncing the light.

  2. M&S is in my top five list of things I miss from home - you can't beat a nice pair of M&S slippers, and I refuse to buy my underwear and tights anywhere else!

    1. M&S is an institution. The UK gets sturdy underwear, slippers and food porn. The USA gets Miracle on 34th St and the July 4th fireworks (and some decent handbags, I'm talking about Macy's here).

  3. My first two Christmases with Jon's family, Santa brought me M&S slippers on my stocking. I desperately needed a new pair weeks before Christmas this year, but I held out for my stocking. aaaaand - success! :)

p.s. I like the light in the photos!

    1. Sooo much M&S loving here! My nan sent Mark his first ever pair (his are a more manly blue, gray and red) and I think he's converted. Although his LL.Bean bathrobe rocks too.

  5. Cold snap in London this weekend and I'm snuggled up in my very first pair of M&S slippers!! They are the bomdiggity. So, I need some online photo lessons. I think you should set something up. Just a thought. I love your photos!

    1. Funnily enough, when you visit the M&S website it says "Feeling the cold?"

I hope your first pair are living up to expectations :)

Also thanks, I'll see what I can do re: photo lessons! I'm still very much learning. I have considered combining Thriftbag Thursday into a mini photography spot. That way I can kill two birds with one stone, and it'll be just as much about the pictures as the thrifty finds. Perhaps you will be my motivation to do it :)
